12 Green Driving Tips for 2012

A new year means new resolutions and promises to be better citizens, parents, stewards to our communities and the environment. At LA Car Connection we’re in love with cars and helping get you into the car of your dreams. Whether saving money, helping keep the environment cleaner or a bit of both, we offer these 12 green driving tips for 2012:

1.    Idling the engine = 0 mpg There’s no need to “warm up” your vehicle with the current technology in vehicles.
2.    Flooring the gas is wasteful and causes additional pollution
3.    Take out the junk in the trunk. More weight means decreased fuel efficiency.
4.    Plan your trips. The less stop and go and on and off the better gas mileage.
5.    Change the oil as directed by the Owner’s Manual.
6.    Use regular gas unless your Owner’s Manual recommends a higher octane.
7.    Give a hoot! Don’t throw your garbage out the window especially while driving as it can cause an accident. Leaving litter in parking lots is just bad; that’s why there are garbage cans!
8.    When the weather is warm try to park in the shade. You could add a bit of life to your engine because it doesn’t have to work as hard.
9.    Go the posted speed limit and your vehicle will be as much as 10% more fuel efficient.
10.    Properly inflated tires mean less wear and tear and more green in your pocket!
11.    Biodiesel is the newest trend. Convert your vehicle and fuel with natural animal or plant oils.
12.    Performing regular maintenance on your vehicle helps keep it as green – and fuel efficient – as possible.

Here’s to a green 2012!
